Sighthound releases Sighthound Video 3.0
The easiest way to add state-of-the-art computer vision to your home or business security system.
Palo Alto, California – December 16, 2015 - Sighthound, Inc. today announced the release of Sighthound Video 3.0, the latest version of its popular home and business security software.
Sighthound Video is an on premise video security application which uses a computer vision engine to distinguish between people and other forms of movement for home and business surveillance, thus greatly reducing the number of false alerts generated by conventional motion based detection.
The third major release of Sighthound Video includes the latest computer vision algorithms from Sighthound’s Computer Vision Lab, resulting in improvements in detection, classification and tracking of moving people and objects.
In Sighthound’s own benchmarking tests, Sighthound Video 3.0 showed 71% fewer false positives overall, with accuracy in person detection up to 96.9% from 90.1% for the previous version. The most marked improvements were in the ability to ignore insects, rain, snow and shadows when looking for people. The reduction in false positives for these categories averaged 89.9%.
“Our team of computer vision PhDs is always working to improve the algorithms in our products, and thanks to some breakthroughs in the last year we have been able to incorporate state-of-the-art computer vision into our consumer and small business product,” said Sighthound’s CEO Stephen Neish. “Sighthound Video has always had a strong following, and we’re excited that in the latest release our users now have access to some of the world’s leading computer vision.”
Other improvements in version 3.0 include:
Run as a service functionality, with auto launch at system boot without user log in
Major performance improvements to file management
Bit rate is configurable for remote access video streams
Remote access now operates via https
Free Starter edition resolution limit changed from QVGA (320x240) to VGA (640x480)
