Sighthound Unveils Sighthound Video 4.0
Artificial intelligence surveillance software for the home now with audio, better human detection and higher quality video
Palo Alto, California - December 23, 2016 - Sighthound, Inc. today announced the release of Sighthound Video 4.0, the latest version of its state-of-the-art security software for homes and businesses.
Sighthound Video is artificial intelligence software which allows a computer to monitor a home or business and look for people. The software minimizes false alerts caused by events that would otherwise fool conventional motion-based detection software that is incapable of distinguishing between people and other objects.
The fourth generation of the software has been re-architected to significantly enhance performance. When using H264 IP cameras, the software uses on average 60% less CPU than version 3.0 despite now running at full 30 frames per second frame rates. This allows video to be recorded at higher resolution and/or allows more cameras per computer.
“We changed everything except the UI,” said Stephen Neish, Sighthound’s CEO. “CPU usage is down, the computer vision algorithms are the latest generation from Sighthound’s commercial Sentry product, video quality is up on live view and clip playback, and we added audio support. Our users send us feature requests and we listen. And now with a solid foundation we can add more of the Sighthound community’s requests.”
The most highly anticipated feature in the 4.0 version is the addition of an audio recorder and playback tool which enhances the many ways customers are able to use the software.
Key improvements in version 4.0 include:
Audio support for IP cameras that use the AAC codec
New and improved human detection engine
Video recorded at the stream's native frame rate, no longer limited to 10 fps
Sort button added in Search View to select the ordering of clip results
Sighthound Video 4.0 will be rolled out from today at no cost to those Sighthound customers who are current with their support and upgrade subscriptions.
Sighthound Video works on Windows or Mac and has a one-time license fee of $60 for 2 cameras or $250 for unlimited cameras, both of which include a year of major version upgrades and technical support.
Customers new to Sighthound Video can download the free Starter edition and access a free 14-day Pro trial at https://www.sighthound.com/download.
The latest version of Sighthound Video joins Sighthound’s other offerings: Sighthound Sentry, the computer vision engine used by companies to add intelligence to their products and services, and Sighthound Cloud, a suite of computer vision APIs for developers.
